So, I just read 'The Hunger Games'. ↘

So, I just read ‘The Hunger Games’.

Obviously, it’s been out for a while and everybody was telling me it was amazing, and I should totally read it, and it’s started a new trend in YA fiction that doesn’t involve vampires or werewolves etc. I wasn’t sold. 

But then, a while ago, I saw the trailer for the movie

Because seriously, it looked awesome

So I got the book and started. At first it was a bit slow, but then the ‘Hunger Games’ were explained. 

Seriously, the whole concept is fucking terrifying. Then the reaping happened and Katniss took her sister’s place…

We met Peeta, and the story with the bread…

Fast forward through the training (my respect for Katniss really grows here), the   opening ceremonies (Cinna was awesome) and the interviews (Peeta is either a genius or actually completely in love with her. I’m…I’m honestly not sure which).

And then the games start

Throughout the entire games all I can think is “HOW IS ANY OF THIS SHIT LEGAL”

She teams up with sweet little Rue, whom I was actually waiting for to turn out to be a psycopath or something along those lines, but is actually innocent and good and then gets horribly, viciously murdered.

But then there’s hope that she and Peeta can at least make it out alive together!

They do their whole ‘couple in love routine’ which is interesting to read when you consider  that they’re both basically doing it to stay alive. It’s sort of cute though? (Still can’t get over the whole fight to the death thing that’s going on here). 

Fast forward to the fight at the Cornucopia where the MUTATED WEREWOLF VERSIONS OF THE TRIBUTES TRY TO KILL THEM. 

But they survive and it looks like they’ll go home happy…except they have to kill each other now??

So they almost die but at the last moment, Katniss figures a way out and they barely escape with their lives!

They’re alive, but the Capitol is watching them, and Katniss is understandably confused about her feelings towards Peeta, who’s hurt and withdrawing from her, AND WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE BOOK’S OVER??
